Management Team

Vega Wave Systems, Inc.’s management team of Dr. Alan Sugg and Dr. Tony Moretti have over 60 years of combined engineering and management experience.

Dr. Alan Sugg - President

Dr. Sugg’s expertise is in the design, development, and manufacture of compound semiconductor and photonic devices for communications and scientific applications. Prior to founding Vega WaveSystems, Inc. Dr. Sugg served as Director of R&D and later as Vice President of Engineering for Sensors Unlimited, Inc. (Collins Aerospace Systems), a leading manufacturer of InGaAs p-i-n photodiode arrays for telecommunications, imaging and spectroscopy products in Princeton, NJ. Dr. Sugg earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and a B.S. in Mathematics from North Carolina State University, and his M.S. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Dr. Tony Moretti - Vice President of Engineering

Dr. Moretti has over 30 years of experience in engineering management. Dr. Moretti started Molex Inc.’s business unit for high-speed optical transceivers. He led this business unit, first as director, and then as vice president until its sale to Emcore Corp. His group at Molex commercialized gigabit/s speed and higher optical transceivers including 1×9’s, GBIC’s, and parallel optic modules. In late 2003, Emcore purchased the Molex development team for the LX4 10Gb/s transceiver module, which Emcore successfully commercialized. At Emcore, Dr. Moretti was responsible for manufacturing the LX4 transceivers and for development of new 10Gb/s and high speed products. Dr. Moretti received his B.S. degree in Physics from Iowa State University. He received his M.S. degree and Ph.D. in Physics from Purdue University.
